One of the favourite parts of my job is being invited back to photograph a family and their new arrival. At the end of last year I was welcomed back to capture newborn Eddie. I always try to keep sessions natural with a few shots with parents and siblings, some in the nursery and a few snuggled up shots too.

Last month was super busy with newborn and six month sessions. Here are a few taken of Zak & Jasper along with older babies Poppy and Esme who had their second session as part of the New Baby Deal and twins Lyla & Eve. All of the shoots took place at their homes, some in a nursery environment and others more studio style.

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of photographing one week old baby Brooke. I set up a range of different areas by the window to allow for as much light as possible, so I could capture Brooke in various poses against different backdrops. She was very content throughout the home shoot session, which made my job easy. Here are some of my favourites from the home shoot session.

Here are a few tips to ensure a super cute new born photography session:

* New born shoots work best within the first two weeks – the earlier the better.

* Try to give your little one a feed just before the session as this will help them feel more settled.

* Make sure the room is warm and cosy, as the majority of shots tend to be with very little clothing as these work well when they’re very young.

* Feel free to have any personal items, blankets, frilly knickers and props to hand during the session. I will bring a small selection with me too on the day.
