One of the favourite parts of my job is being invited back to photograph a family and their new arrival. At the end of last year I was welcomed back to capture newborn Eddie. I always try to keep sessions natural with a few shots with parents and siblings, some in the nursery and a few snuggled up shots too.

I’m now taking bookings over the warmer months for family lifestyle sessions at selected locations throughout West Yorkshire. The photo sessions last around half an hour, are very natural and can include well behaved dogs if you wish.

Here are a few of my favourites from a recent shoot at Oakwell Hall near Birstall, of a lovely family I’ve had the pleasure of capturing over the last year or so.

A few months ago I captured a wonderful newborn session for little Ariya and her parents. During a newborn photo session I take a range of shots around the home, usually set in little ones nursery with a few snuggled up shots too. Sessions are very natural and there’s plenty of time for an outfit change, cuddles and feeds. After the shoot I edit the best images (around 40) in my signature style before presenting the proofs on a personal online gallery, where orders can be placed for single prints or the popular Bronze, Silver and Gold deals – details can be found here.

At the start of the year I had the pleasure of capturing newborn Aria and her family at their home. I tend to start the session in little ones nursery – shots in their cot, with parents and some snuggled up ones too, and I encourage families to include their own personal items such as handmade blankets, soft toys or gifts. Newborn sessions can last up to an hour, are very natural without too much posing and there’s time for feeds, nappy changes and cuddles.

I’ve been super busy over the summer, but I had to share a few from a recent rainbow themed cake smash. A session lasts up to an hour and starts with a few portraits before I set up for the smash. I have a range of background options, including a neutral one as seen here, a bright pink and a bright blue. I also bring along various bunting – love the new vintage rainbow one – along with a cake stand and ONE letters but parents are welcome to include their own props too and of course a cake! After the session I personally select and edit the best images in my signature style and present them on a proofing gallery where you’re able to view and order the various packages. Where has this past year gone!? It only seems a few months ago I was taking Sophia & Freya’s newborn photographs, and now it’s their first birthday! It’s such a privilege to be invited back time after time to capture this family and their milestones. Here are a few of my favourites from the session

Up on the moors has to be one of my new favourite locations for the family sessions, especially during the evening as the sun goes down. I’ve known Andrea since we were nine years old and I’ve photographed her family many times over the years, mainly in a studio style, so it was fab to capture Andrea and her boys in a different setting, without the restrictions of a backdrop and poses.

Andrea put it best…

“We had the best time on our Mummy and boy photo shoot…we posed for a maximum of zero minutes and had so much fun on Norland Moor and yet we have the most amazing images capturing all our personalities and Mum and boy love.”
