It’s been great to be out and about on location again, capturing lots of family sessions. Here are a few of my favourites from a recent photo session at Oakwell Hall near Birstall.

I’m now taking bookings over the warmer months for family lifestyle sessions at selected locations throughout West Yorkshire. The photo sessions last around half an hour, are very natural and can include well behaved dogs if you wish.

Here are a few of my favourites from a recent shoot at Oakwell Hall near Birstall, of a lovely family I’ve had the pleasure of capturing over the last year or so.

Up on the moors has to be one of my new favourite locations for the family sessions, especially during the evening as the sun goes down. I’ve known Andrea since we were nine years old and I’ve photographed her family many times over the years, mainly in a studio style, so it was fab to capture Andrea and her boys in a different setting, without the restrictions of a backdrop and poses.

Andrea put it best…

“We had the best time on our Mummy and boy photo shoot…we posed for a maximum of zero minutes and had so much fun on Norland Moor and yet we have the most amazing images capturing all our personalities and Mum and boy love.”

Here are a few of my favourites from Harper’s first birthday cake smash – where has the past year gone?!

A cake smash session at your home starts from £20 for Halifax and surrounding areas, print deals range from £50 to £150 and single prints/digital files are also available.

I have a few props, such as a cake stand, various bunting and ONE letters, but parents are welcome to include their own items to suit any theme. Then all you need to provide is a cake and any outfits – the supermarkets do a few options around £12 but homemade cakes are just as lovely.

Just before Christmas, I met up with a lovely family for a session at Oakwell Hall. I’ve photographed Aukland and Lincoln a few months ago during a cake smash, but today was about capturing them both with their cousins Otto and Margot. The session took place late in the afternoon, just as the sun was beginning to set. I love Oakwell Hall at any time of the year, it really is a gem of a location! Here are a few of my favourites from their shoot.

It’s always wonderful to be invited back to photograph a family and their little ones, so in keeping with their first session, I used similar spaces around the home plus some shots by the Christmas tree. I always try to keep the home sessions very natural and focus on expressions, without the need for props and things. Here are a few of my favourites:

Last Autumn, I met up with a wonderful family for a location session just down the road at Oakwell Hall. Each year they put together a calendar for their parents/grandparents so we did a range of shots including individuals, family groups and some of their children together. Just over a year has passed since I first met Seren and her parents for her newborn session, and to mark her first year they decided on a relaxed lifestyle session rather than a cake smash. We met up at Oakwell Hall near Birstall, as it’s a fab location with lots of different areas to explore (and a lovely cafe that serves ace tea and cake – always a bonus).
