Cake smash photo shoots are always super popular and a great way to celebrate a first or second birthday. I can work around any theme or colour scheme, all you need to provide is a cake and an outfit. I have a selection of bunting options a number 1 and a cake stand, but you’re welcome to include your own props too – wooden or large spoons look great as do small balloons, pom poms and cake toppers.

Just getting around to sharing some of my recent shoots including this super cute, jungle themed first birthday cake smash. I love the rag-bunting with the eucalyptus leaves – it’s super effective! Little ones parents made a vibrant green cake to complement the jungle theme too, along with an animal print romper.

One of the favourite parts of my job is being invited back to photograph a family and their new arrival. At the end of last year I was welcomed back to capture newborn Eddie. I always try to keep sessions natural with a few shots with parents and siblings, some in the nursery and a few snuggled up shots too.

The cake smash photography sessions are as popular as ever and are a great way of celebrating little ones first birthday. I start the shoot with time for a few portraits before setting up for the smash. Siblings are welcome to join in too if they wish. All you need to provide is a cake, an outfit and any props – you’re welcome to use my cake stand and bunting options. After the shoot the backdrop is cut off and popped into the recycling so it’s not as messy as you’d think.

Shoots cost just £20 for the session in the Halifax area, then print deals range from £50 to £150 and are pinned to the top of the page over on Facebook.

Chocolate cake has to be one of the best types to use for a smash as it’s super messy and looks great in the photos. For this cake smash photo session, I began taking a few portraits on the bright blue backdrop before setting the scene with bunting, a little suitcase and ONE letters. Parents are welcome to include their own items too and of course a cake. After the session I edit the best images in my signature style before presenting the proofs on an online gallery where orders can be placed. I’ve been super busy over the summer, but I had to share a few from a recent rainbow themed cake smash. A session lasts up to an hour and starts with a few portraits before I set up for the smash. I have a range of background options, including a neutral one as seen here, a bright pink and a bright blue. I also bring along various bunting – love the new vintage rainbow one – along with a cake stand and ONE letters but parents are welcome to include their own props too and of course a cake! After the session I personally select and edit the best images in my signature style and present them on a proofing gallery where you’re able to view and order the various packages. Where has this past year gone!? It only seems a few months ago I was taking Sophia & Freya’s newborn photographs, and now it’s their first birthday! It’s such a privilege to be invited back time after time to capture this family and their milestones. Here are a few of my favourites from the session

For the final session of the New Baby Deal package, Polly had a pink and gold themed cake smash, complete with a wonderful homemade cake – I’ve found over the years that a simple cake topped with fruit is often more popular with little ones, than a cake covered in super sugary frosting. As always, I started the session with time for portraits, before setting up for the smash. Polly’s Mum provided the lovely pink and gold bunting and the decorative cake stand, but I always bring my props too, should you wish to use them.
