I was invited back to capture a new arrival of a family I’ve had the pleasure of photographing many times over the last few years. Little ones nursery was absolutely gorgeous so we started the shoot there, some in Mums arms and in the cot. I always make time for outfit changes, cuddles and feeds in between the photos too and I encourage parents to include any soft toys, blankets and personal items.

I always try to keep sessions natural with a few shots with parents and siblings, some in the nursery and a few snuggled up shots too.

I’m really enjoying getting back into the newborn lifestyle sessions again. I find little ones are so much more relaxed in their own environments and everything they need is already at hand. Having the shoot at your home also makes the images more personal as I often capture interior shots of the nursery too.

The cake smash photography sessions are as popular as ever and are a great way of celebrating little ones first birthday. I start the shoot with time for a few portraits before setting up for the smash. Siblings are welcome to join in too if they wish. All you need to provide is a cake, an outfit and any props – you’re welcome to use my cake stand and bunting options. After the shoot the backdrop is cut off and popped into the recycling so it’s not as messy as you’d think.

Shoots cost just £20 for the session in the Halifax area, then print deals range from £50 to £150 and are pinned to the top of the page over on Facebook.

I’m now taking bookings over the warmer months for family lifestyle sessions at selected locations throughout West Yorkshire. The photo sessions last around half an hour, are very natural and can include well behaved dogs if you wish.

Here are a few of my favourites from a recent shoot at Oakwell Hall near Birstall, of a lovely family I’ve had the pleasure of capturing over the last year or so.

At the start of the year I was invited back to shoot a first birthday cake smash. I started the session with a few portraits, including the family’s cats, before moving onto the smash. I have a few options for backdrops, including the cream and the bright blue shown here. Parents are welcome to include their own props, but I have a selection of bunting and a cake stand that I bring along to the shoot.

Starting the year off with a newborn session with a lovely family I’ve had the pleasure of photographing for many years now – you may notice a few of my photos from previous shoots.

I kept the shoot very low key, just using the light from a window and took various photos in their living room.

A few months ago I captured a wonderful newborn session for little Ariya and her parents. During a newborn photo session I take a range of shots around the home, usually set in little ones nursery with a few snuggled up shots too. Sessions are very natural and there’s plenty of time for an outfit change, cuddles and feeds.
