I was invited back to capture a new arrival of a family I’ve had the pleasure of photographing many times over the last few years. Little ones nursery was absolutely gorgeous so we started the shoot there, some in Mums arms and in the cot. I always make time for outfit changes, cuddles and feeds in between the photos too and I encourage parents to include any soft toys, blankets and personal items.

I’m now taking bookings over the warmer months for family lifestyle sessions at selected locations throughout West Yorkshire. The photo sessions last around half an hour, are very natural and can include well behaved dogs if you wish.

Here are a few of my favourites from a recent shoot at Oakwell Hall near Birstall, of a lovely family I’ve had the pleasure of capturing over the last year or so.

A few months ago I captured a wonderful newborn session for little Ariya and her parents. During a newborn photo session I take a range of shots around the home, usually set in little ones nursery with a few snuggled up shots too. Sessions are very natural and there’s plenty of time for an outfit change, cuddles and feeds. Chocolate cake has to be one of the best types to use for a smash as it’s super messy and looks great in the photos. For this cake smash photo session, I began taking a few portraits on the bright blue backdrop before setting the scene with bunting, a little suitcase and ONE letters. Parents are welcome to include their own items too and of course a cake. After the session I edit the best images in my signature style before presenting the proofs on an online gallery where orders can be placed. For the final session of the New Baby Deal package, Polly had a pink and gold themed cake smash, complete with a wonderful homemade cake – I’ve found over the years that a simple cake topped with fruit is often more popular with little ones, than a cake covered in super sugary frosting. As always, I started the session with time for portraits, before setting up for the smash. Polly’s Mum provided the lovely pink and gold bunting and the decorative cake stand, but I always bring my props too, should you wish to use them.

I first met Kirsty a few years ago during a family portrait session so I was thrilled to hear she was expecting twins! We decided to do the photo session in two parts, some in the nursery and the rest out on location near to where Kirsty lives. All very natural and lifestyle in approach.
